SPENCER COX, Owner & President of Speedsport Tuning
Spencer spent his early childhood helping his father tinker with his 1965 356 C on weekends. His father drove it every day as their only car, and still uses the car as his only car today. Spencer watched as his dad drove at all the Northeast DE weekends.
At 16, Spencer worked for his dad’s Porsche mechanic during summer break. He moved to California in 1980 to work for a shop very similar to Speedsport Tuning, where they went to the track on weekends and repaired service cars during the week.
In 1987 he moved back to the Northeast and opened DP Motorsport in Hicksville NY, where they spent the weekends at Bridge Hampton and Watkins Glen.
Spencer moved back to Connecticut in 1995 and purchased Speedsport Tuning from Larry Prentiss. He had a short stint at Farnbacher Loles between 2005 and 2009, but he is once again proud to be Speedsport.
Porsche is what Spencer does, and he has loved the car since he was 3 years old.
